Born in New Jersey, Alexandra Basmagy received her preliminary training at The Academy of Dance Arts where she successfully completed Royal Academy of Dance examinations in Grade IV through Intermediate I.
She then trained at Studio Maestro in NYC where she performed Balanchine’s Raymonda Variations and Walpurgishnacht as well as excerpts from Giselle, Don Quixote, and La Bayadere.
In 2004, Basmagy was accepted into the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre where she trained under John Meehan, Franco DeVita, Susan Jaffe, Lupe Serrano, Gelsey Kirkland and other ABT Faculty and Alumni. She performed in ABT’s productions of Sylvia and Le Corsaire.
In 2008 she joined Corella Ballet as member of the corps de ballet. Her repertorie includes soloist roles such as: Stomper "In the Upper Room"; Second Variation in "La Bayadère Act II"; Big Swan and Pas de Trios in "Swan Lake"; Second Principal Pas de Duex in "String Sextet": First Pas de Duex in Christopher Wheeldon's "DGV: Danse a Gran Vitesse"; Friend Variation in "Raymonda Suite"; and created a part in Russell Ducker's "Epimetheus"; as well as corps de ballet roles in all of Corella Ballet's repertorie.
In October 2011, she joined the corps de ballet of American Ballet Theatre.
