Ernst Meisner trained at the Nationale Ballet Academy in Amsterdam and at the Royal Ballet School in London.

He was a dancer with The Royal Ballet 2000-2010 and in August 2010 joined Dutch National Ballet as a Grand Sujet.

His repertoire includes Benvolio (Romeo and Juliet), Benno (Swan Lake), Dancing Gentleman (Manon), Prince's Friend (Cinderella), Hungarian Officer (Mayerling), pas de six (Giselle, Ondine).

Furthermore he dances in ballets by such choreographers as Ashton (Rhapsody, Scenes de Ballet), Balanchine (Symphony in C., Theme and Variations, Ballet Imperial), Bintley (Seasons), Corder (L'invitation au Voyage), Ek (Carmen), Forsythe (The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude), Kylian (Sinfonieta), MacMillan (Gloria, Song of the Earth, Requiem), McGregor (Qualia) Marriott (Tanglewood), Tetley (Voluntaries) and Wheeldon (Tryst, DGV).
Since joining Dutch National Ballet he has worked with such choreographers as Benjamin Millepied and Alexei Ratmansky.

He has choreographed for Draft Works at The Royal Ballet and his work was shown as part of New Works in The Linbury (Royal Ballet) as well as galas at Grange Park Festival and The Bloomsbury Theatre.
He also choreographed for English National Ballet School (Summer Performance Peacock Theatre London 2010), DanceEast First Anniversary Gala (with dancers from English National Ballet).

In 2005 he produced his own show at the Orchard Theatre Dartford with dancers from The Royal Ballet and The Mariinsky Ballet as well as choreographing a work to a specially commissioned score by London based composer Paul Gladstone-Reid.

He organises vocational workshops for Kent County Council, has danced and taught for the ROH Education Department and Chance to Dance.
He has taught class at DanceWorks, Mara Galeazzi and Company and is a guest teacher with English National Ballet School.

He was invited to attend Dance East's Rural Retreat for Future Leaders and was given a placement to shadow Ted Brandsen, artistic director of Dutch National Ballet, in September 2009.
