Gemma was born in Bedforshire and trained at The Royal Ballet School. At the School’s 1999 performance she danced the Pas de trois in Theme and Variations and Myrtha in Peter Wright’s Giselle. She joined The Royal Ballet in 1999.
Her repertory with the Company includes Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée, Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, Manon, Anthony Dowell’s Swan Lake, Pas de six, Queen of the Wilis and Moyna in Peter Wright’s Giselle and The Nutcracker, Ninette de Valois’s Coppélia, Bronislav Nijinska’s Les Biches, Mikhail Fokine’s The Firebird, the First Sylph in Johan Kobborg’s production of August Bournonville’s La Sylphide, Nacho Duato’s Por Vos Muero, the Sapphire Fairy in Natalia Makarova’s The Sleeping Beauty, the Second Solo Shade in Natalia Makarova’s production of La Bayadère, the Pas de trois in Emeralds, one of the Red Girls in Les Patineurs and Jemima Puddle-Duck in Tales of Beatrix Potter
She has created roles in Poppy Ben David’s Siren Song for The News Works (2000), Cathy Marston’s Unstrung Tension (2002), David Bintley’s Les Saisons (2003) and Vanessa Fenton’s On Public Display (Linbury 2004).
