Jeroen Verbruggen

Belgian. He studied firstly at the Royal Belgian Ballet School of Antwerp directed by Marinella Paneda and then at the National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto, directed by Mavis Staines. He participated in 2000, to the Summer University of Le Ballet des Jeunes d'Europe directed by Jean-Charles Gil in Lubéron. Then he joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerp directed by Robert Denvers. For the season 2003/2004, he danced with le Ballet d'Europe in Marseille, directed by Jean-Charles Gil. He participated successively in 2000 to the Prix de Lausanne where he won the public prize and a silver medal and then to the Young Dancers Eurovision where he obtained the second place, with its own choreographed solo. He was invited as guest dancer in galas such as Introdans in 2000 and also in Munich in 2001.
He joined les Ballets de Monte-Carlo in 2004. He has danced major roles in J-Ch. Maillot's creations: Puck in le Songe, Benvolio and Romeo in Romeo&Juliet, The prince in Cinderella, a dog-cop in Œil pour Œil, along with Men's Dance, Opus40, Dov'e la luna and recently Daphnis in Daphnis&Chloe. He has also interpreted guest choreographers pieces such as In Memoriam and Mea Culpa by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, The Second Detail and Artifact by William Forsythe. The son in Balanchines' Prodigal Son, Whiteout and Le Spectre de la Rose from Marco Goecke.
Jeroen created two choreographies for the Monaco dance forum in 2010. "variations on a black origami bird" for the Princesse Grace Ballet Academy, and a solo for his collegues called "Jack(L)in the box. And is now working on a third piece.

Less
