Born in Fresno, California, Kelley Boyd received her preliminary training at the Severance School of Dance where she studied with Margaret Hord, Jeanna Gailar, Carla Stallings-Lipert and Christopher and Françoise Doyle. Boyd was afforded many performance opportunities with the Fresno Ballet including leading roles in The Nutcracker, Cinderella and La Fille Mal Gardée choreographed by Christopher Doyle. In 1999 Boyd moved to Virginia where she spent two years as an apprentice with the Richmond Ballet. While in Richmond, Boyd performed roles in The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Eliot Feld’s Contra Pose, and Val Ganiparoli’s Djangology.
She joined American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company (now ABT II) in September 2001 and became an apprentice with the main company in October of the same year. Boyd joined American Ballet Theatre as a member of the corps de ballet in August 2002.
Boyd’s roles with the Company include Little Lizzie in Fall River Legend, the Young Girl in The Green Table, the Daughter in Offenbach in the Underworld, the Ranch Owner’s Daughter in Rodeo, the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Effie in La Syphide and the Lustful One in Three Virgins and a Devil, as well as a role in Airs and roles in the Company’s full-length ballets.
