Renata Pavam, a native of Brazil, began studying ballet at the Centro Mineiro de Dancas Classicas with Ofelia Gonzalez from the Ballet Nacional de Cuba. After the International Competition in Brazil, she received a three-month scholarship to The Washington Ballet in March 1998. From August 1998 to August 2000 she studied with the Jeune Ballet de France in Paris. Pavam has received numerous honors and awards for international dance competitions including the title of “Most Promising Dancer” at the Nureyev International Ballet Competition in Budapest – March 2000; the Grand Prize winner of the Concours International de Dance de Luxemburg – April 1999; the Silver Medal at the USA International Ballet Competition – 1998; and the Silver Medal at the Concours International de Danse de Paris - November 1998.
Pavam joined ABT’s Studio Company in 2000 and, in 2001, joined American Ballet Theatre as a member of the corps de ballet. Her roles with the Company include a Shade in La Bayadère, an Odalisque in Le Corsaire, Amour and a flower girl in Don Quixote, the Masks in Christopher Wheeldon’s VIII, Clara in The Nutcracker, a Carnival Dancer in Othello, a Street Dancer in Petrouchka, Clemence in Raymonda, the Italian Princess in Swan Lake, a Goat in Sylvia, a featured role in Brief Fling and roles in Amazed in Burning Dreams, Baker’s Dozen, Everything Doesn't Happen at Once, HereAfter, Petite Mort and workwithinwork.
She created a leading role in Glow – Stop.
