Born in Brazil, Roberta trained at the Maria Olenewa State Dance School. In 1994 she joined the Municipal Theatre Ballet, Rio de Janeiro, becoming a Principal in 2002. Her awards include Best Dancer of the Year (Rio de Janeiro Dance Awards, 2001), Silver Medal and Best Couple (Moscow International Dance Competition, 2001).

Her repertory includes Aurora in Makarova’s and Lormeau’s The Sleeping Beauty, Odette/Odile in Makarova’s Swan Lake, Nikiya in La Bayadère, Swanilda in Martinez’s Coppélia, Juliet in Vassiliev’s Romeo and Juliet, Katerina in Cranko’s Taming of the Shrew, Chloé in Skibine’s Daphnis et Chloé, the Sugar Plum Fairy in Achcar’s The Nutcracker, Achcar’s Floresta Amazônica, Balanchine’s Serenade, Lifar’s Suite in Blanc and Peter Wright’s production of Giselle.

Since joining The Royal Ballet as a Principal in 2004 she has danced Odette/Odile in Anthony Dowell’s production of Swan Lake, Balanchine’s Symphony in C, as the Bride in Ashton’s A Wedding Bouquet, the title role in Cinderella and Manon, Lise in La Fille mal gardée, Dora Penny in his Enigma Variations, the centre couple in Symphonic Variations, Swanilda in Ninette de Valois’ Coppélia, the Pupil in Flemming Findt’s The Lesson, Tatiana in John Cranko’s Onegin, Princess Stephanie in Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, the Sylph in Johan Kobborg’s production of August Bournonville’s La Sylphide, Jerome Robbins’s Afternoon of a Faun, part of the 1st Principal Couple in Emeralds and Aurora in the Monica Mason and Christopher Newton production of The Sleeping Beauty.
