Rupert was born in Maidenhead and trained with Julie Rose and at The Royal Ballet School. He danced Albrecht (Act II) in Giselle and in the Pas de trois Theme and Variations at the School’s 1999 performance. He joined the Company in 1999, was promoted to First Artist in 2004, to Soloist in September 2005, First Soloist in September 2006 and Principal in September 2008.
He has danced the Prince in Peter Wright’s production of The Nutcracker, Prince Siegfried in Anthony Dowell’s production of Swan Lake, De Valois’ Coppélia, Aminta in Frederick Ashton’s Sylvia, Beliaev in A Month in the Country, Les Rendezvous, Birthday Offering, The Queen of Air’s Consort in Homage to the Queen, Fokine’s The Firebird, Robbins’ The Concert, Poppy Ben David’s Siren Song, Espada in Rudolf Nureyev’s Don Quixote, the Wolf in Natalia Makarova’s The Sleeping Beauty, Prince Florimund, Florestan and Russian Prince in the Monica Mason and Christopher Newton production of The Sleeping Beauty, Paris in MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, an Officer in Anastasia, Benvolio and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, the Sanctus Boy in Requiem, Manon, Gloria, David Bintley’s Tombeaux, Pas de trois in Glen Tetley’s Voluntaries George Balanchine’s Ballet Imperial and Serenade.
He has created a role in Alastair Marriott’s Tanglewood (2005).
He also made his debut dancing the Pas de deux from Don Quixote for ‘A Curtain Call for Aid’ Asian Tsunami benefit performance.
