Mr. Catazaro is a member of New York City Ballet’s corps de ballet. He was born in Canton, Ohio, and began his dance training at the School of Canton Ballet. There he studied under the direction of Cassandra Crowley. Notable teachers included his mother Jennifer Catazaro Hayward, and world renowned master teacher Laura Alonso. At Canton Ballet Mr. Catazaro performed various featured roles including but not limited to Basilio in Laura Alonso's staging of "Don Quixote", Cavalier in "The Nutcracker", and Prince Desire in "The Sleeping Beauty". Before attending The School of American Ballet he spent summers in Chautauqua where he performed the principal role in "Flames of Paris" and a demi soloist role in George Balanchine's "Donizetti Variations" staged by Patricia McBride. He also was a scholarship recipient at American Ballet Theater's 2004 summer course. During his Pre-Professional career, Mr. Catazaro was a frequent guest artist with the Lexington Ballet. There he performed the lead roles in "The Firebird" and "The Nutcracker". Artistic Director Luis Dominguez also created a new work for Mr. Catazaro during his stay. In 2002 and 2003 Mr. Catazaro won "Best Male Dancer" in his age division at the Youth America Grand Pix. He later would guest as a returning alumni at the "Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow" Gala at City Center for the Performing Arts in 2009. Mr. Catazaro began studying at the School of American Ballet, the official school of New York City Ballet, during the summer of 2003 and 2006 and enrolled as a full time student later that same year. While at the School of American Ballet, Mr. Catazaro performed the male principal role in George Balanchine's "Gounod Symphony" in SAB's annual Workshop Performances of 2007. In October 2007 he became an apprentice with New York City Ballet, and joined the Company’s corps de ballet in October 2008. With the New York City Ballet, Mr. Catazaro has performed featured roles in George Balanchine's "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" and Jerome Robbins' "Watermill". Just recently Mr. Catazaro originated a corps role in Alexei Ratmansky's "Namouna: A Grand Divertissement". Mr. Catazaro is also an avid choreographer and guest teacher. In 2009 alone he create two works on the Canton Ballet. "Pour Les Juenes" in the neo classical style was his first choreographic attempt. Later that year he added a new piece to CB's repertoire with "Quando Corpus Morietur" a ballet in three movements to Giovanni Pergolesi's masterpiece "Stabat Mater".
