Chris Manlunas' first foray into ballet was a two month summer workshop with Ballet Manila. In love with the style by this time, he moved to New Zealand and auditioned for the New Zealand School of Dance and the International Ballet Academy. He was accepted into both and chose the academy where he studied for three years, majoring in classical dance.
Manlunas graduated at the end of 2005 and almost immediately secured a rare four month contract with the Royal New Zealand Ballet for the company's season of The Wedding.
